Dr Maryke van Zyl BVSc
Dr. Maryke van Zyl qualified from Onderstepoort in 2006. With a keen interest in avian medicine, she started working in a mixed species rural practice in Ottosdal where she developed her knowledge and experience further, particularly in avian sexing. This work led to her developing a particular interest in avian reproduction, incubation and neonatology.
In addition to her professional expertise, she has a significant amount of personal experience with avian breeding, having started breeding parrots soon after qualifying as a veterinarian, including handrearing the chicks herself. This combination of professional knowledge and personal experience makes her an invaluable asset to the practice and the greater community in the areas of avian reproduction and the management of aviaries and flock health.
