Services

Veterinary care for avian, reptile and exotic patients

At CARE, we provide veterinary care for birds, reptiles, rabbits, rodents and other exotic companion animals.

Our services are guided by the patient’s species, history, environment and presenting concern. Depending on the case, care may include consultation, diagnostic testing, medical treatment, surgery, hospital admission or follow-up planning.

01

Consultations

General consultations are available for avian, reptile and exotic patients.

During a consultation, we assess the patient’s condition together with their history, diet, housing, behaviour and any recent changes noticed at home. This helps guide the most appropriate next step.

02

Diagnostics

Diagnostic testing may be recommended when more information is needed.

CARE’s diagnostic services include microscopy, blood analysis, radiography, ultrasonography and endoscopy. These tools help support clinical decision-making and treatment planning.

03

Medical and surgical care

CARE provides medical care, soft tissue surgery and orthopaedic surgery for avian, reptile and exotic patients.

Where needed, patients may be admitted for hospital care, monitoring, supportive treatment or post-operative recovery.

04

Anaesthetic monitoring and support

Anaesthesia in birds, reptiles and exotic animals requires careful planning and monitoring.

CARE uses anaesthetic monitoring and support equipment suited to the needs of smaller and more specialised patients.

Hospital care

Hospital and ICU care

Some patients require admission for closer observation, treatment or recovery.

Hospital care may include supportive feeding, fluid therapy, medication, warmth, monitoring and species-appropriate handling, depending on the patient’s condition.

Boarding

Bird and small mammal boarding is available by arrangement.

Boarding requirements may vary depending on the species, housing needs and current health status of the animal.

Collaboration work

Rescue, charity and collaboration work

CARE also works with rescues, charities and selected collaborators involved in avian and exotic animal care.

This work forms part of the practice’s wider role in supporting responsible care for unusual species.
