Before their plan begins
Joining starts with an assessment and a clear explanation of the plan. CARE will confirm suitability, joining costs and your start dates.
Explore your options and tell CARE about your animal. One agreement applies to one named patient.
Dr. de Beer assesses suitability. Patients require a verified working microchip. CARE assesses any required joining procedures and quotes them separately for your acceptance.
Review the full agreement, confirm your payment option and receive your start dates. Plans usually start on the first of the next month, with an initial 12-month term.
A few helpful details
The usual Medical waiting period is 90 calendar days from accepted enrolment. Medical care and chronic medication during this period are charged separately. An established patient may qualify for a recorded waiver following Dr. de Beer’s approval, based on at least six months of CARE history and health during the preceding six months. For birds, the Medical waiting period does not delay valid, separately selected Routine or Nutrition benefits.
Nutrition is supplied alongside Routine, usually collected at the quarterly visits, so Routine must remain selected. Medical may be selected on its own. Following CARE’s dietary guidance does not require buying the Nutrition component.
It is one shared allowance per patient, per 12-month benefit year, for prescribed medication and eligible external diagnostic tests ordered by CARE. It is not two separate allowances and is not the overall limit for eligible Medical care. Further medication or external tests after the allowance is used require a separate accepted quote. Unused allowance has no cash value.
Required joining procedures are separately itemised and quoted. Fees at other veterinary practices, including CARE-arranged referrals, home-treatment equipment, travel and transport are excluded. Holiday boarding is separately charged; Medical members receive the stated 30% reduction on CARE’s standard non-plan boarding price for the named patient while the agreement is valid. Other extras and any patient-specific exclusions are explained before enrolment.
The saving applies to 12 months of selected plan fees paid upfront. Joining procedures, extra goods or services and boarding are excluded. The discounted annual price is fixed for the paid 12-month period. The saving shown compares with 12 payments at the accepted current monthly tariff; monthly tariffs may change through the agreement’s notice process.
Benefits are for the named patient and cannot be pooled, shared or automatically transferred. The agreement has an initial 12-month term. Cancellation requires three calendar months’ written notice unless the law allows earlier cancellation. The full agreement explains cancellation, settlement and any patient-specific conditions.
